How it works

Getting in

1. Download the app

   It's a 143 MB download — use wifi if you have it. Tap the Android button above.

2. Allow the install

   Your phone will warn you that the app isn't from the Play Store. Choose to install anyway, then turn the permission back off if you like.

3. Sign in with your institute email

   Your IISER Kolkata address. You'll get a code to confirm it's you.

4. Set up your profile

   Name, hostel, and whether you're here for friends, a crew, or something else. Takes about a minute.

About that warning. We're not on the Play Store yet, so Android treats the app as coming from an unknown source. The warning is about where the file came from, not what's in it. If you'd rather wait for a Play Store listing, that's a fair call.

Before you download

• LocationThe app records your location during a walk or run, to work out which zones you covered. It keeps recording while your screen is off, which is why Android asks for background location access.
• What others seeYour name, your hostel and your activity. Not your room, not your contact details, not where you are right now.
• StageEarly. Things break, and some screens aren't finished. Tell us when they do.
